Solutions
are the results of Quantum's efforts to design equipment which
addresses the needs of the railroad community.
How does Quantum
accomplish this?
|
 |
by listening to the customer |
|
 |
by using skills
developed from 20 years of railroad experience |
|
 |
by re-engineering
older designs with current technology |
|
 |
by creating new
methods and products to solve your problems |
Each
solution is specifically designed to fit a unique problem. There are
no "cookie cutter" solutions at Quantum.

Solutions to
railroad problems are our goal, and Quantum has been extremely
successful in attaining this objective. Our successes include such
innovations as locomotive strobe
warning light systems and solid state event recorder systems.
Quantum
thrives on challenge. It is a "can do" attitude and spirit
that defines Quantum. One of our personal and corporate goals is to
provide cost-effective solutions to the problems facing railroads,
today and into the future.

Quality is
a key ingredient to Quantum's success. All Quantum employees are
committed to quality and are empowered to improve the design of
products or the manufacturing process.

Quality
starts with understanding the customers needs. You cannot
"inspect" quality into a product. The quality inspection
process merely verifies that we have accomplished all of our objectives.

Quality
starts with understanding the customers needs. It continues with the
development of the proper specification and is implemented with a
superior design. Quality is then assured in the manufacturing process
by flawless workmanship, exceptional materials, and verification of
results. Quantum's motto is that you cannot "inspect"
quality into a product. The quality inspection process merely
verifies that we have accomplished all of our objectives.
Each
employee at Quantum has quality responsibility, from the incoming
material inspector, to the outbound material shipping clerk. Quality
is a process, a journey, a continuum, which Quantum strives to
achieve every day. We design it in, we build it in, and we inspect
every product to insure quality is in every shipment to our customers.
Quantum's
Quality Program has been approved by major U.S. railroads. We invite
our customers to visit our facilities and review our quality process.

Imagination is
the key that leads to solutions at Quantum. Without imagination,
ineffective and inadequate responses to problems are perpetuated. It
is this attribute along with solid engineering design that form
solutions. The basic building blocks that are Quantum's foundation.

Quantum's
history of innovative ideas is primarily due to its ability to
combine the thoughts and ideas of not only the Quantum team but its
railroad customers as well, molding a solution from the resulting consensus.

Imagination
and solid engineering design, however, must be combined with the
knowledge of the railroad environment. This "rail industry"
knowledge allows Quantum's people to design equipment that fills the
given need.
Quantum's
history of innovative ideas is primarily due to its ability to
combine the thoughts and ideas of not only the Quantum team but its
railroad customers as well, molding a solution from the resulting
consensus. Quantum truly listens to its customers. Who better to
define the problem and provide input toward a possible solution than
the customer with the problem? Many times it simply takes looking at
a problem from a different perspective to see the "forest
through the trees." This is where imagination and Quantum make
the difference.

Results
are the end product that are derived through Quantum's efforts. We
have been extremely successful at finding solutions to many of the
problems facing the railroads today. In the process, Quantum has
developed several "firsts":
The QDP
system has greatly enhanced the throughput of railroad supervisors
who are charged with playing and interpreting event recorder data.
|
 |
the first
manufacturer to design a solid state event recorder with nonvolatile
memory needing no batteries to retain the recorded data on power-down
of the recorder |
|
 |
the first
manufacturer to combine magnetic tape and solid state memory into one
system, for a reliable yet inexpensive means to download the event recorder |
|
 |
the first
manufacturer to develop a personal computer based interactive video
playback system that can review recorded locomotive data from either
magnetic tape, solid state credit cards or diskettes |
|
 |
the first
manufacturer to develop a playback system that can play up to
twenty-four magnetic tapes consecutively without operator
intervention. The QDP (R) system has greatly enhanced the throughput
of railroad supervisors who are charged with playing and interpreting
event recorder data. The productivity of those charged with
monitoring locomotive efficiency and measuring crew performance is
greatly increased. |
This list of
"firsts" is impressive for a young company. Quantum has
several new products, which will yield even greater results. And that
is really what all the other components, namely, SOLUTIONS, IMAGINATION, and QUALITY
of the Quantum process deliver ... RESULTS.
